Efficient auralization techniques are gaining immense importance through new generation 3D Audio systems aimed at gaming and mixed reality scenarios. A powerful and flexible rendering approach is describing the spatial sound scene in spherical harmonics or Ambisonics. However, limiting the reproduction accuracy in order to improve performance introduces severe coloration of the audio signal. We propose two strategies to improve on binaural playback for higher order Ambisonics. The proposed approaches increase perceived Audio quality without requiring any additional real-time processing.
