In Between is an "innovative story-driven puzzle platformer" that relies heavily on the sentimentality of the player to engage with its main appeal. The game is after all, based on the life reflections of a terminal cancer patient, and therefore is pretty difficult to critique. However, the gameplay while consistent is far from innovative or puzzling and more akin to a maze game than a platformer. I don't mean to say that "In Between" is a "bad" game, by any stretch of the imagination, especially considering the severely discounted price of just under $1 USD, but it quickly loses its shine due to repetition. New game features are introduced in each of the game's 5 main chapters, but unforgiving traps and un-intuitive controls work to create some fairly unbalanced difficulty spikes that many players may not feel inclined to forgive.
