Ascendance is one in small pool of ambient 1st-person puzzle platformers to hit the eShop, and while it does offer roughly 2 hours of gameplay across 3 unique worlds, it still comes across as stark and unfinished. There appears to be a Buddhism-inspired "World Peace" message injected at various points in the game, but even considering the evolution of gaming environments, any coherent themes are lost in the lack of polish, dropping frame-rates, and abrupt endings.
If you are looking for an ambient 1st-person puzzle platformer, I would suggest "Refunct".
