Despite being a huge change from the previous FF games, I think they did pretty well with this one. I didn't really find the storyline as gripping (or maybe I was too young to understand it) but I think that the huge number of side-quests as well as the mini-games such as Blitzball really make up for it.

One thing I forgot to mention about the Blitzball is that the way you recruit new players is just by finding them in the world and talking to them (there are a couple on the airship that you can hire to play for you).
