tl;dr
Portal Knights' core features reach about as far as a mobile game equivalent would. It's open world sandbox is merely several small instanced islands, it's RPG functions don't allow for custom stat distribution, and there's very little need to actually build anything. Once these items are expanded upon, I'll be more than happy to revisit it, but until then..
