Ever wonder what would happen if you combined Zelda’s top-down side scrolling exploration with Dragon quest’s turn-based mechanics? Indra no Hikari or (Light of Indra) is a console RPG developed by Kemco for the Famicom and published in 1987. You play as a typical wandering knight taking place 2000 years into the future after fleeing from a depleted earth to colonize another planet in the far reaches of space. It is on this colonized planet where the game takes place. Here citizens go about their daily lives and live peaceful under the protection of a god. How ever an evil demon approaches the planet turning it into a wasteland of mostly deserts and scattered ruins. The people have erected settlements to survive in this barren dystopian world. It is up to you to who must journey across the planet to put an end to the demon and restore the Light of Indra to the god that protects the planet.

The game’s mechanics play out like a traditional rpg with turn-based accept you explore the world using side scrolling navigation typical of most Zelda games and you are able to see enemies on the map as well so you can choose rather or not to partake in any of the battles. As the quest gets further, you learn new spells, gain new allies, and navigate dungeons to defeat specific bosses usually in a typical rinse and repeat fashion until the game ends. A very obscure NES rpg that I could not find really any info online but thanks to King mikes translation I can finally play it and provide it here as content on my channel. I hope that this guide provides invaluable to you wanting to complete it and be sure to leave any feedback or comments below, thank you.
