My theory at the time: "Seems at most one pusher, of those it is connected to (only through the pushers themselves), can move at a time, unless two cancel each other out." -- I've used pushers on pushers a few times since than and don't think it's that simple now. Haven't taken the time to look at what's going on through.

I also tried with the middle pusher on the same side as the other two, so they all pushed the same way and never cancelled out, and in that case only one section could ever move, but it was random which one did.
