After 8-12 hours work I finally have the XR5 tube fitted and working in the GT-14 housing, I bypassed the PCB and also used some existing wiring to the switch so that to turn on the monocular requires the switch turning to the IR position then pulling up and twisting, which turns the monocular on.
Its not Perfect but it works.
