Inkarnate Map-making Tutorial - City Maps (and how to break them down into encounter maps)
In the latest tabletop worldbuilding video, we're diving into another Inkarnate map-making tutorial and this one is a tips and tricks video on how to take your city maps and break them down into encounter maps and POI-specific maps without needing to actually build any new maps.
This feature within Inkarnate is incredibly useful for rapidly creating the random encounter battlemaps you need for when your party might get caught up with local thugs or bandits or whathaveyou on the steets.
It's also useful to quickly cut out sections of the city map that deal with a specific POI, and then you can create a more fleshed out, close-up version for the players to use when they are actually at that location on the city map.
From there, you can make variations of those maps via clones, creating daytime, nighttime, and various other versions that have NPCs or have none at all, and so on and so forth.
Using this method, a well-detailed city map in Inkarnate can quickly become 30 other smaller maps that can be used in a variety of scenarios and can also become agnostic maps used in other settings and beyond.
