What we know about the hydra skip: the Hydra doesn't seem to have the normal damage absorption mechanic on for the first few seconds of the fight (reasons unknown), thus allowing you to deal more than the 25% health you normally could during those seconds. After the Hydra goes impervious the first time, the game is only checking to see when the Hydra then reaches 50% health before the next phase change, therefore if you get the Hydra below 50% health in those first few seconds, it will never go impervious a second or third time and you can kill it immediately. The reward spawns when you kill the small heads afterward but the timer pauses as soon as the main head is dead.
