The Chernobyl nuclear disaster in present-day Ukraine is the largest in history. On April 26, 1986, at 1:23 a.m., reactor 4 exploded after a failed test sequence. In the aftermath of the blast, radioactive radiation was released at an intensity comparable to 200 nukes of the type that hit Hiroshima.
600,000 rescue workers
In order to contain the consequences of the disaster, the Soviet Union sent 600,000 people to the scene in four years, trying to shield the affected power station amid heavy radiation.
Twenty-five years after the disaster, it is still not clear how many deaths the tragedy has caused and the impact on the health of the inhabitants around the world. This is partly due to the chaos that ensued during the fall of the Union, but the nuclear lobby is also being fingered. After all, he is very reluctant to study the influence of radiation.......
