INSIDE - Part 7: The Mines
4The Mines is the seventh part of the game in Inside. This walkthrough will show how to survive, solve puzzles, and find any secret Collectibles in this area of the game.
As you fall face first into the mines, note the cage on the left holding some mind controlled victims. This is going to come into play very shortly as you make your way right past an elevator to a large sealed and ominous door, where a single man stands on a pressure plate. Activating a nearby switch will power the door, with a big "19" indicator letting you know you'll need a total of 20 bodies to get through the door.
So begins the 20 man puzzle. First thing's first, you need to find a mind control helmet. Head to the elevator and take it down to the bottom and move right to a lift, and a broken ladder further down where several men are standing below a helmet high up. Continue right past them and swim through a short tunnel to find a platform with two ropes you need to swing to leading to a plank coming back to the helmet.
As you leap for the helmet, things will go a bit wrong, but then a bit right. You can still control the mind-controlled men, only now they will follow you around, rather than you directing them from afar. With your new team of 5, walk up to the broken ladder, and press up and the men will lift you upon their shoulder and shot-put you with the jump button.
Up top, move left to the lift (don't worry, they wont all fall into the pit) and use the wheel to lower the lift down to get the men. Instead of going back up the elevator, continue left to find a large mine cart blocking the way. Run up to it and try pulling it. You can't do it by yourself, but with your newfound team, you can pull the cart back. Make sure you stop right below the the gap in the ceiling above. Just to the right is a rope you can get boosted up to, and then hop down to get on top of the mine cart. Since the men below will try and reach you, they'll end up pushing the mine cart back to the left, letting you hop to a new area with a wooden wall you can climb.
At the far end of this chamber is a pod holding three men who are trapped. To the side of it is another propulsion machine below a small box. Move the box aside and pull the trigger to propel the box up - though it won't reach high enough, unless you pull the box back to cover its hole. Now you can ride the box even further to jump to the pod, breaking it open and freeing the people inside (don't worry, they're tough enough to survive the fall).
Secret Orb #8: Pack Mentality
On the way back with your new found friends, check out the wooden wall you climbed and try pulling at the boards. With the help of your pals, they'll pull out the boards and loosen the rubble for you to climb through by yourself.
Down in a pit you'll find a very large room with a single torch - grab it. As soon as you begin making the trek across a sandy abyss, several angry hounds will start coming after you - and only the torch can keep them at bay. Move surely and cautiously as you beat back the dogs - face whatever direction they are charging to cause them to move back. Once you reach the orb, quickly break it to startle the dogs and they'll retreat for good.
Now that you have a total of 8 men, take the elevator up to the main floor, and return to where you first fell down to open up the cage. Beyond the single man behind the gate, there's actually more to it - a large room with little puzzle.
There are 4 men stuck in a mine cart on a slanted rail who you need to get back over here. To do so, have your team launch you to the elevated platform with a lever that controls the slated track. Pulling it will cause them to roll toward you, but they won't be able to go further due to the rail slanting down into a rock. Instead, use the momentum gained from the rolling down and quickly pull the lever back, and the momentum will carry them up and over sending them crashing into your party.
You should now have a party of 13 strong (14 including yourself). For the last remaining few, take the elevator up to the top, and check the left side to find a cage holding 3 people. Have your team push it off the ledge (It's ok, they'll survive!) to bring your team to 17, but including the two down by the pressure plate, you still need one more.
