Installing Quake 2 Off the 1997 Retail Disk Plus Gameplay Sample
5Just a little nostalgia for 90's PC gamers who miss the old install screens every game would show you as you installed them. Also, on Windows 10 which I am using, it won't play the music directly off the CD like it used to, so I just played the music off the disk in the background with VLC player while playing the game. Between the install, and gameplay, I installed the 3.20 patch from Modb, and configured the controls and video. I'm also running fraps to benchmark for nostalgia purposes.
Yes, I am playing on easy, just to get a gameplay sample. For some reason, this game feels even smoother and more responsive to play than even the remastered version I own on Steam. It also looks pretty nostalgic using the default Open GL setting, along with Radeon Super Resolution to upscale it to 4K.
