In this review, we test the new Intel Core i3 12100F cpu comparing it with the Intel Core i7 8700k cpu.
The i3 12100F is the new processor that can fit into Z690,H690, B660 and H610 chipset based motherboards, featuring the new LGA 1700 socket.
The new processors is part of the Intel 12th generation desktop Core cpu lineup, codenamed Alder Lake.
In this particular benchmark the intel cpu was installed into ASUS Prime Z690-A motherboard. While the i7 8700K cpu was maunted into AsRock Z370 Taichi.
We used a Z690 in this test because we wanted to use the same motherboard used in the previous i5 12400 and 12600K tests.
We also plan to examine the Intel Core i3 12100F with a DDR4 motherboard (probably a B660) to determine if there are any substantial performance differences.
In case you want to make a build with this processor we advise you to pair it with a B660 motherboard (if you want the Ram overclock) or H610.
In fact, a Z690 motherboard does not give any benefit regarding the performance of this processor, as like all non-K processors it is not overclockable.
