My advice is to pair a GTX 1080 TI or RTX 2080 or higher with the i9-9900K. I also suggest a i9-9900K if you plan to upgrade to a top end GPU in the next 3 years.
If you're at a GTX 1080 or RTX 2070 or below and plan to stay there for awhile, the Ryzen 7 2700 is a better deal for you.
