Activating future data where I did will grant Max invincibility until he reaches the next checkpoint. Turns out that you don't need to kill any of the enemies to get through the door leading to the next checkpoint, and due to the invincibility, you can easily run past them. Be careful, though, as there is still a possibility that an enemy can melee you.
