Sorry, but today's episode will have to be a "not at all pretentious" montage of the republic. First of all, don't worry, nothing bad has happened. In fact, it's a side-effect of a pretty good development. I managed to grab myself a good deal on a z590i motherboard, and an i5-11400 CPU to go with it. I'd say it's a pretty good upgrade to my moldy old 6600k. The problem is, I had to use the rest of my old components to complete the new setup, and my old SSD seem to be on its last legs at this point (been running it REAL hard this past 5 years). I noticed a worrying amount of corruption events going on. Quite frequent file system related BSODs (NTFS.sys), game files requiring very frequent (at least a couple times per day) file verification on Steam to get them to load in the first place, and I did get quite a few memory related BSODs as well, so they might also need to be switched out (although that might be the virtual memory on the SSD getting borked, I'm no expert). Thankfully, I didn't run into any issues while making this particular video, so that's an encouraging sign (I did a lot of health checks, and possible fixes I found on the internet, so that might have helped). Speaking of this video...

You might notice a bit of a quality upgrade in this one. Namely, both the resolution and the frame rate has been increased. There are still a couple small compression artifacts I need to sort out, but I'm pretty happy with the result. The new CPU is a colossal boost in this regard.

Also, I'm overjoyed to say that the publisher of the new Steam version of Dwarf Fortress, Kitfox Games, has given me a key for the game, and as a result we have some good old fashioned dorfy action to look forward to. Hopefully things will get sorted by next week, so we can "Strike the Earth!"
