♫Intro Themes from METAL GEAR 2: SOLID SNAKE, SNES Arrangement - NintendoComplete
This is an arrangement of the intro themes, "Theme of Solid Snake" and "Zanzibar Breeze," from Konami's 1990 MSX2 game, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. I have arranged them for native playback on SNES hardware, and the audio was recorded directly from a launch-model SNES console.
Zanzibar Breeze starts at 3:08.
Solid Snake was the "true" Metal Gear sequel that Kojima himself was involved with. (Poor, misunderstood Snake's Revenge!) It was one of the last games released before the end of the MSX2's viable shelf life, and damn, Konami really gave its then favorite platform an incredible send-off.
The game's sound was always one of the biggest highlights for me. With an SCC+ cart plugged in, the soundtrack easily competes with (and trounces) nearly every FM soundtrack that was around at that point.
And yeah, that's the psycho AI Colonel from Metal Gear Solid 2 that I sampled talking at the beginning. He _is_ directly referring to this game, so why not? I'm not sure how forks are related to anything, but it somehow felt right to include them too, so I did.
Thanks for listening!
