So tire wear is once again a "thing" in iRacing. Only... not really. Okay, there is now some more tire wear and it is no longer a cliff, but it's still not huge. Tires also seem more sensitive to temp, though less "volatile" - like they are easier to over heat, but when you do over heat them they lose less grip.
The new, updated tires are significantly more predictable. That isn't to say they are perfect, but they make sense to some degree now. Some cars have changed massively, some haven't. The McLaren is about 1000% better than it was, and I mean it. It's not just the McLaren either, it's everything. lol
On the NASCAR cars, I've only really tested the Nationwide cars enough so far on the new build (B Class). And my goodness, that is perhaps the most boring thing ever. At Phoenix you see in the video, the car is so beyond featureless - it just does. No real feel for an edge, no feel for looseness or anything. In other words, I have to try to get the thing to spin. Ham fist that car all day, and it won't spin. Now, on the flip side I've heard some guys say what we consider normal in sim racing would have drivers complaining of being "wrecking loose" in the real world, but wow, if driving a stock car is that easy anyone could do it. lol
I do feel though that what we have now is closer to reality than we were before, but dang, that thing is a boring drive. Don't have enough time with the other NASCAR cars yet in the new build to make a judgement. Nationwide car though just seems incredibly stable and tame.
However, the improvements are clear on the road side, much more predictable.
