Iran helicopter crash: Iranian President Raisi suffers 'hard landing'
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is currently missing following a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024. The incident occurred in a mountainous region near Iran’s border with Azerbaijan. Raisi was accompanied by Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, the governor of East Azerbaijan province, and other officials. Two helicopters in the convoy landed safely, but Raisi's helicopter remains unaccounted for (Egyptian Streets).
Efforts to locate the missing helicopter are underway, involving about 20 rescue teams equipped with drones and search dogs. However, bad weather conditions are hindering the search operations (Arab News).
This development has caused significant concern, and the Iranian Ministry of Internal Affairs has not confirmed the President’s status as of now (The New Arab).
