Angie Sanclemente Valencia: The Glamorous Model Who Became a Drug Queen
Angie Sanclemente Valencia is a former Colombian beauty queen and lingerie model who gained international notoriety for her involvement in a drug trafficking ring. Born on May 25, 1979, in Barranquilla, Colombia, she initially achieved fame in the modeling industry, winning the "Reina Nacional del Café" beauty pageant in 2000.
Her criminal activities came to light in late 2009 when Argentine authorities linked her to a drug smuggling operation. Sanclemente Valencia allegedly orchestrated the transportation of cocaine from Argentina to Europe using young female couriers. These couriers, who were often attractive models, were recruited under the guise of legitimate modeling jobs. The operation unraveled when one of the couriers was caught with a significant quantity of cocaine, leading to an investigation that pointed to Sanclemente Valencia as the mastermind.
In March 2010, an international warrant was issued for her arrest. After a brief period on the run, she was captured by Argentine authorities in May 2010 in Buenos Aires. She was subsequently charged with drug trafficking and sentenced to six years and eight months in prison in 2011.
Her case attracted significant media attention due to her previous career as a model and the sensational nature of her criminal activities. It highlighted the intersection of beauty, fame, and criminality, drawing public fascination and scrutiny.
