Iron Banner? More like Iron Boredom... Destiny 2 has been out for over 3 years, and no aspect of the franchise has been left to wither quite like Iron Banner. What was once a fan favorite mode and something to look forward to for all players, both PvP and PvE alike, has become nothing more than a husk of it’s former self. What used to be a deterministic grind for well-rolled weapons and armor from Saladin and Lady Efrideet, has instead devolved into Destiny 2’s most egregious form of “Chuckie Cheese token simulator”, with a few weekly bounties to complete and nothing else. Not to mention the fact that Iron Banner hasn’t seen a single new Armor Set since Shadowkeep in Fall of 2019, with the ONLY new weapon added since Forsaken being Point of the Stag a year ago. And the pain doesn’t end with the loot regression. The gameplay in Iron Banner couldn’t be more stale, with Control being the only game mode offered since the Summer of 2018.

But despite all of this, I think that we can still salvage Iron Banner, and transform it into a true endgame PvP activity once again. In this video, I’m going to explain how I go about fixing Iron Banner. We’re going to discuss how we can modernize the loot structure while taking advantage of some old twists from Iron Banner’s past, and we will then discuss how we can revitalize the gameplay with some fresh new modes and introduce additional incentives for playing well. And finally, we’ll have a discussion about long term solutions to keep loot feeling fresh, for many more years to come. Let’s jump in!
