Initially a backup feature in DC's anthology titles, Aquaman later starred in several volumes of a solo comic book series. During the late 1950s and 1960s superhero-revival period known as the Silver Age, he was a founding member of the Justice League. In the 1990s Modern Age, writers interpreted Aquaman's character more seriously, with storylines depicting the weight of his role as king of Atlantis.

Evolution works mostly be incremental adaptation of what’s already present. Humans are far, far down the road to being adapted not only to hunting and gathering in forests and savannas, but to technology. It would take a remarkable chain of events to get us to evolve into anything really, given our technology. Even if that were stripped away and somehow, our minds and our ability to recreate it, that would still leave us rather clever, aggressive apes, well adapted to hiding and hunting. It’s hard to imaging what chain of events would get us to evolve toward aquatic adaptation, much less breathing under water.
