Is it worth it to buy Elves vs Inventors or Jace's Spellbook?
142Elves vs Inventors had so much potential. Ezuri, Renegade Leader and Elvish Archdruid were a good sign of what could have been. However the execution and card choices included in this deck were absolutely dismal. The convoluted theme of go wide, go big, go counters is confusing and this deck just doesn't know what the hell it wants to do.
The Inventors Deck is slightly better, however the chase card of Darksteel Plate just doesn't fit with the theme of the deck and probably should have been Wurmcoil Engine. The value just is not here and the $65 contents is very misleading as most of the cards do not even hit $1 on the secondary market.
There could have been some easy fixes to make this product worth it. Leaf Gilder out for Priest of Titania, and Craterhoof Behemoth replacing Gladehart Calvary. Take out the two drop rares like Advocate and Talara's Battalion and put some huntmasters and Quirion Rangers.
The Inventors deck needed a Grand Architect or some other mana reducers / producers like Vedalken Engineer. Replace the Shivan Reef with Steam Vents as why the hell isn't Steam Vents the land for "inventors"? Sad because these decks could have been a knock out of park.
Jace's Spellbook is ok and the term ok pretty much sums it up. I think including a few more cards like Mind Sculpt or a creature such as Jace's Phantasm or Jace's Mindseeker.
Lastly the buy a box early is just asking for corruption. What looks like a good thing for Local Game Stores might end up backfiring. We will have to see how it plays out.
