With Visions of Mana coming out, I was reminded of one of my favorite SNES games Secret of Mana. As a kid in the 90s, I had not seen a game like this before. Combining action combat with JRPG elements and a story was a huge lightbulb moment for me. For the US, this was the first in a long-running series of Mana games in title only, as the first had actually released on Game Boy prior and was called Final Fantasy Adventure.

As I had beaten this game several times before, I decided it was time for a challenge run. The boss combat is somewhat notorious because you can kind of spam attack magic and stun lock every boss until they are dead. So I decided to remove that crutch and try a no attack magic challenge! It definitely made the game feel more dynamic.
