saved by the Wong??
Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror game developed by Capcom for the GameCube. It features special agent Leon S. Kennedy rescuing the US president's daughter from a religious cult in Spain. The game includes a dynamic camera system and action-oriented gameplay, which differed from previous Resident Evil games. Development for Resident Evil 4 began in 1999 for the PlayStation 2, but the final version was announced as part of the Capcom Five for the GameCube. It won multiple Game of the Year awards in 2005 and has been ported to numerous formats, selling over 11 million copies. It also influenced the evolution of the survival horror and third-person genres, leading to the creation of games like Gears of War, Dead Space, and The Last of Us. A remake was released in 2023.
Following the destruction of Raccoon City, Leon S. Kennedy is forced to become an agent for the U.S. government, undergoing gruelling training under Major Jack Krauser and deadly missions in the field. In 2004, Leon is dispatched to rescue the U.S. president's daughter, Ashley Graham, who is being held captive in a rural village in Europe. Leon discovers the villagers are hostile, controlled by a parasite called Las Plagas, and have pledged themselves to the Los Illuminados cult.
While searching for Ashley, Leon encounters Luis Serra, whom Leon's remote support, Ingrid Hunnigan, confirms once worked for the Umbrella Corporation. Leon and Luis are captured by the village head, Chief Bitores Mendez, who injects Leon with a Plagas parasite. After escaping captivity, the pair go their separate ways, with Luis meeting up with Ada Wong. Leon rescues Ashley, who was also infected with a Plagas. Inclement weather delays their rescue helicopter, so they retreat to a castle after killing Mendez.
Leon and Ashley encounter more hostile locals under the command of the castle's ruler, Ramon Salazar, and become separated. While searching for Ashley, Leon briefly re-encounters Ada before he is cast into the dungeon and a secret laboratory. There, he reunites with Luis, who provides suppressants for the parasites and reveals he wants to atone for his actions while working as an Umbrella researcher. The pair use mining tunnels to reach the surface, but Luis is fatally stabbed by Krauser, who has defected to Los Illuminados. Leon and Krauser engage in combat before Luis forces Krauser to retreat. Before he dies, Luis gives Leon the key to his personal lab. Upon returning to the castle, Leon battles and kills Salazar before pursuing Krauser and Ashley to an island facility.
Leon reunites with Ashley, but the pair meet Osmund Saddler, the leader of Los Illuminados. He uses their parasites to control Ashley and incapacitate Leon, separating them again. While moving through the facility, Leon discovers that Krauser kidnapped Ashley and brought her to the village out of resentment against the U.S. government for their handling of "Operation Javier", a mission he and Leon narrowly survived years prior. Desiring power, Krauser uses a Plagas parasite to mutate himself and fight Leon, who eventually kills him, reunites with Ashley, and takes her to Luis' lab to remove their parasites. While searching for a means of escape, Leon and Ada join forces to kill Saddler, who drops a vial of Plagas amber. Ada takes the vial and leaves in a helicopter while Leon and Ashley escape the exploding island on a jet ski.
Ada contacts her boss, Albert Wesker, to inquire about his intentions for the vial. When he promises a new dawn will break at the cost of billions of casualties, a disgusted Ada forces her pilot to change course.
