[Synopsis]

This video shows the complete playthrough for It Came from the Desert. This game was released in 1989 for the Commodore Amiga and MS-DOS, and it got very good reviews on most computer game magazines at the time. I had the MS-DOS version, and I bought my copy at Electronic Boutique. I didn't know anyone who had this game on the Amiga, so I never played the Amiga version of this game. On the back of the box, the screen shots were taken from the Amiga version, and the Amiga version had the better graphics. The MS-DOS version supported, EGA and VGA; however, the VGA that was supported was 16 color VGA. As a result, the VGA version didn't look much better than the EGA version. You can tell by seeing people with red skin, and back in the day we used to call EGA red skin graphics.

The Amiga version had superior audio and graphics compared to the PC. Never the less, the PC version did support Sound Blaster which was pretty good in the audio department. The Amiga version of this game was the best version hands down.

In this game, you are a scientist who came to the town of Lizard Breath to study the meteorite that fell around the town. The meteorite was radioactive, and caused the ants in the area to mutate and grow to a very large size. As a result, these mutated ants start causing havoc in Lizard Breath, like attacking cars, attacking farms, attacking people, etc. You stumble upon these giant ants, and your mission is to prove the existence of these mutants and convince the mayor. In the game, you run into ants, and collect evidence, like plaster castings, fluid samples, tape record evidence, and tissue samples. Once you get all the evidence, you take it to the mayor's office, and he will give you control of the armed forces in the town. You use these resources to stop the attack of the mutant ants.

If you cannot get all the evidence to mayor, he will eventually be attacked by a giant ant, and he will declare a state of emergency giving you control of the armed forces in the town. The mayor will not be in the town commanding the resources of the town to fight the mutant ants. You have to find the queen ant's liar, and eliminate her. The queen ant's liar is located at mine 1, it is south of mine 1. You will see ants coming out of the hole, and all you have to do is to go in there. This is after the state of emergency is declared. You find the queen ant and plant a bomb next to her, and get out of there.

This game was addictive, and I played it a lot back in 1990. I found out about this game reading computer game reviews and back in those days that is the only form of advertisement computer games had. Computer games weren't advertised on television, because computer games had very small budgets. You could find out about the latest computer games by going to the mall, or hearing about from your friends. This was the pre internet era, where the world wasn't as well connected as it is now. Computer games like this were more open ended, and that is why I liked games like this. After I got my first PC in 1989, I stopped playing video game consoles, and pretty much grew out of it.
