It has a capable engine and soft ride to go along with its roomy - 2020 Chevrolet Impala Review
The Chevrolet Impala was once one of the most popular models wearing the Bowtie badge. Originally a RWD vehicle, the Impala transitioned into a FWD configuration starting with its eighth generation model, which made its debut in 2000. Now that the Impala has been discontinued, 2020 marks its final model year.

What We Think

True to its mission as a full-size sedan, the 2020 Chevrolet Impala prioritizes comfort. Even when equipped with the larger 19- and 20-inch alloy wheel options, the Impala's suspension does a great job maintaining an excellent ride while retaining surprisingly good handling for a big car. Add comfortable front seats, a cavernous interior and a big trunk to the mix, and you have a classic American cruiser. Only the modern car has a punchy V-6 (6.3 seconds to 60 mph in MotorTrend testing) instead of a big block V-8. Quibbles? The rear bench seat could use softer cushions, and more driver assistance tech—especially ones that prevent collisions—should be standard on all models.
One engine is offered on the 2020 Chevrolet Impala: a 3.6-liter V-6 with 305 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. EPA fuel economy ratings for the standard six-speed automatic transmission are 19/28 mpg city/highway.
The 2020 Impala has one of the largest trunks in its class with 18.8 cubic feet of space, and it comes with 60/40 split-folding rear seats if you need more cargo space. The 2020 Impala features Chevrolet's latest infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, three USB ports, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Premier models add built-in navigation and an 11-speaker Bose audio system.
Safety
The 2020 Chevrolet Impala received a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA (out of a possible five stars).
In IIHS testing, the 2020 Impala got a Good rating on all but the driver's side front small overlap impact and headlights tests, where it was rated Acceptable and Poor, respectively. The 2020 Impala received a Superior rating on the IIHS' front crash prevention tests' vehicle-to-vehicle category, which is the highest score.
Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the Premier trim and available on the LT grade via the Driver Confidence package. You can only get forward collision warning, lane departure, warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control on the Premier trim as part of the Premier Confidence package.
