According to an interview with SIE’s CEO Jim Ryan, we now have an official confirmation that the PS5 PS5 will not have backwards compatibility with PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. So only PS4 backward compatibility (99% of the games).

So if you had hopes that the PlayStation 5 will support in any way, hardware or software, the option to play previous older generation videogames from PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 1, well, now we know for certain that it won't.
