It's time for a brand-new Let's Play, as our journey throughout Isle Delfino begins with Super Mario Sunshine on the Nintendo Switch (GameCube)! This is, in my humblest of opinions, peak 3D Mario gaming - although, this game definitely has mixed reviews. I personally love how wacky and weird this game can be - fully rendered cutscenes with accompanying voice acting, incredibly bright and well-engineered levels, great movement techniques, and the use of F.L.U.D.D. make this a classic for the GameCube, and with the release of the Mario 3D Anniversary bundle, experiencing this through the lush Nintendo Switch graphics only serves this game further. I do wish Mario, Peach, and the old Toad fella revisited the Piantas on Delfino Island again to collect the Shine Sprites in a direct sequel, but it might be a little late for that. Who knows, maybe one day!
In this video, we're starting the game with our protagonist, Super Mario himself, and landing our plane down on Isle Delfino. Upon landing, it's evident that there is something awry here - there's this paint-like goop everywhere... and we're being blamed?! Somehow, we've ended up in court and convicted of a criminal amount of graffiti-related charges, and with the power of our brand-new multipurpose water pack, the Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device (better known as F.L.U.D.D.), we're tasked to clean up this island resort from it's watercolour sins. Wait... why did they blame me for this? I just got here!
Once we've received our sentence, we encounter a water-based version of ourself who, after attempted kidnapping of the princess, opens up a new avenue of exploration - the Bianco Hills! We'll be completing Bianco Hills Episode 1 (Road to the Big Windmill) to gain our first Shine Sprite on the main islands outside of the landing strip. All of that is good and well, but we need to find and apprehend this imposter (who Peach somehow mistook for us - I won't forget that), and we have a lot of gooey goblins in our way. Our only choice is to blast them away with water weaponry and clean this place up. Let's see how today's episode goes!
