"I've fumbled it!" - cayorne plays Guess the Div

In 2009 the world was introduced to the movie Aliens in the Attic. Due to the writers' strike in the previous year and the ongoing housing crisis the movie was rushed quite a bit to production just to get.... something... out to the world. As a result of that speed the movie had little competition on release allowing it to market itself extremely well and those ads are forever stuck in my mind. I never watched it as a child but recently I decided to pick it up and just see what happened. I really don't regret my choice.
It's not great by any means but it's so extremely perfectly 2009 in vibe, story, and experience. There's an extremely specific vibe of the time that is really telling, especially among the lesser stature of film at the time. It feels like the author has given up but desperately trying to hide that. I'm not entirely sure how much that makes sense to anyone else but me but other movies from that era are: G-Force (a movie about the constant cruelty humans show towards animals), Shorts (a movie about how human greed makes good things turn bad), Transformers 2 (human greed itself), and Imagine That (one of the single most offensive things I've ever seen in my life). In all these examples, how bad life is for everyone is part of the joke.
I don't mean to say that all 2009 kids' movies are bad, Up came out in 2009 and so did Coraline, but even a lot of the bigger/better films have a negative tinge to them. 9 also released in 2009 (well timed) along with Turbo Boy, both movies that paint humanity itself as an all-consuming and destroying group that lets its ambition for improvement kill the planet (in 9 it's about warfare and weapons manufacturing and in Turbo Boy it's pollution and literally elevating the rich above the lower class). Also, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs came out and that's an Ice Age movie...
I doubt my little essay here will be read or really understood by anyone, but I appreciate those that bothered. I've been on a 2009 kids movie binge recently and it's been fascinating to see the things they do similarly and the things they do differently. Seriously though, Imagine That is awful, and I recommend everyone avoid it. It's not even worth the hate watch unless you're the type to hate certain groups of people.
