I've made a HUGE mistake... (R1 - AUS, take 2)
Here we go again... again!
Got to hold my hands up on this one guys, I got it wrong.
After recording what would've been Round 2 at Interlagos with damage and failures on, and it being an abject failure, I then did a series of test races and realised I'd got the settings wrong for this series.
While the Formula 1 97 damage model is much more realistic than its PlayStation predecessor, the AI are much more unpredictable and can ruin your race out of nowhere.
With just 10 lap sprint races, needing to pit for anything is a proper race killer, and I want to be able to race wheel-to-wheel with the AI like we did last season.
As a result, I've taken the decision to restart the season with one key difference - damage is off.
I could still be slow, my engine could still blow up, but at least we can have more decent racing action without the fear of our wings flying off within the first two laps!
Please forgive me, not just for restarting, but for what happens in this re-run of the season opener. I can see another self-imposed penalty coming...

This is the second part of a series where I play through the Psygnosis and Bizarre Creations classic - Formula 1 97 for the Sony Playstation.
Despite owning a copy of this game for over 20 years, I have never completed the game and won the World Championship. So I have teamed up with Olivier Panis to see if we can change that!
I'd love to hear your memories of playing this game! Did you have any close championship battles? Who did you choose to try and make a champion?
