Sooo I finished Durarara last week and got extremely torn with Izaya's character. I was actually expecting myself to like him even before watching this show (since I find the outfit and the design quite appealing, not to mention the knives lol)--then ended up hating him with a burning passion. My. God. Such a sadistic little shit. And he's the NEMESIS of my favorite character in this show XDD-- seems as if I was destined to hate this human trashcan one way or another somehow, no?

I'll admit this, at least: He's extremely well-written. Love his thoughts on humanity, his twisted sense of humor; in fact his quips and banters with others (especially Shinra) is awesome! And even his weirdass and unlikable demeanor can still come off as attractive too. There's no reason whatsoever for anyone to actually root for Izaya (aside from some exceptions, not that I know of any lmao), but I guess in an odd fashion we're drawn to his intelligence and attitude. And hey, like I said before, his design is freaking cool. I imagine it would be really fun to edit him, and now that the day has finally came, I realized I was right.

Oh and I loove the idea behind his name. I heard somewhere that the word Izaya is derived from the biblical Isaiah and can be translated to "the one who look over the crowd". Very cool and fitting indeed!
