Izumo (0.8.4): An Undeserved Reputation
0The IJN Izumo is the tech-tree BB of the Japanese line, and one of the oldest T9s in the game as it is now. Since release, the Izumo has been relatively unpopular, seen as a bit of a speed-bump on the way to the Yamato, due to inconveniencing gun arrangement, poor handling, and thin armour. As a result, many users frequently recommend skipping over her entirely.
In spite of this, I found her to be a pleasant experience when I played through her some 1.5 years ago, and since that time she has received a slew of buffs, including a sigma increase, increased penetration power, and armour buffs to her middle deck plating which have truly made her quite the competitive T9.
She is overshadowed by her premium counterpart, the Musashi due to that ships' frankly overpowered status, but it would be a mistake to think that the Izumo was a bad ship because of that. Indeed, upon revisiting her the railguns and tight shell clusters, alongside the good armour, make her a surprising favorite, at least in my books.
