Jack Black will soon take viewers on a magical blocky tour in A Minecraft Movie, but that's only the beginning of what looks to be an exciting year for the actor. This Christmas, he's taking on a massive snake with Paul Rudd in the upcoming Anaconda from Columbia Pictures. Directed by The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent helmer Tom Gormican, the film is reported to be a more comedic take on the 1997 Jennifer Lopez horror flick, capitalizing on the skills of its two leads. However, everything beyond that has been a relative mystery and Black isn't willing to spill the tea just yet on what the new movie entails.

In an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub opposite Jason Momoa for A Minecraft Movie, the actor dodged a question about Anaconda and instead began rapping along to "Anaconda," the song by Nicki Minaj. He did, at least, express interest in getting the song in the reboot somehow, but any other details are out of the question at this time, he said:

"My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun! Boy you named Troy. We gotta get that song, that's all I know. [Rapping] Because that’s r-r-raaare. Gun in my purse, bitch, I came dressed to killlllll. Who wanna go first? I had ‘em pushin’ daffodilllllls. I'm high as hell! I only took half a pilllllllll. I'm on some dumb shiiiiiiiiiit… [Speaking] And that's all I got to say."

'Anaconda' Will Be More Meta-Comedy Than Horror

Fortunately, Rudd did have some things to say when he previously sat down with Weintraub for Death of a Unicorn. Along with revealing that filming was nearly complete, he teased that the reboot will be another meta-comedy of sorts from Gormican, adding that "It’s about a bunch of people who are certainly inspired by and loved the movie Anaconda from the ‘90s, but it's not a remake. It's a totally unique thing, and it is funny." Fitting "Anaconda" into Anaconda might just work given the tone the new film is shooting for, though there will still be plenty of thrills as they take on the titular giant snake.

The new installment will be the sixth movie in the Anaconda franchise, which began after the original feature scored an unexpected $136.8 million despite poor reviews and became a cult favorite. The first title, directed by Luis Llosa, followed a documentary film crew into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest to find a forgotten tribe. However, they run into a shady hunter on the river bank who offers to help guide them but instead steers them straight into the path of a mythical green anaconda of monstrous proportions that will make him a fortune, assuming they can somehow capture it. Lopez led a star-studded cast that also featured Ice Cube, Owen Wilson, and Jon Voight, among others.

Rudd and Black similarly have a strong selection of stars joining them, including Daniela Melchior, Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, Ione Sky, and I'm Still Here star Selton Mello in his first English-language role. Their Anaconda reboot arrives in theaters on Christmas Day, though Black will first appear in A Minecraft Movie on April 4. Stay tuned here at Collider for more on the much-anticipated film.
