"It Kind of Turned Me On": Bradley Whitford on Watching His Wife Amy Landecker Direct Her First Film
Lauren, played by screenwriter and director Amy Landecker (Dan in Real Life), has gotten herself into a pickle in the romantic comedy For Worse. The 50-year-old sober divorcée and mother joins an acting class where she strikes up a fling with her young scene partner, Sean (Nico Hiraga). When one of their classmates (Kiersey Clemons) invites everyone to her Gen Z wedding, Lauren is hesitant to go, but finds comfort in knowing she'll be there with Sean. However, when things go awry, Lauren finds herself behaving like a drunk 25-year-old.
While at SXSW 2025 for the film's World Premiere, Landecker and stars Missi Pyle (Galaxy Quest) and Hiraga (Sweethearts), and star and producer Bradley Whitford (Get Out) stopped by the Collider Media Studio at the Cinema Center to speak with Perri Nemiroff about the actress-turned-filmmaker's feature directorial debut. In addition to Landecker overcoming some nerves, the crew also discusses Pyle joining the team at the last minute, why the script ultimately veered in a lighter direction, and some of the most unforgettable scenes of the film.
