Jack Nicklaus Golf & Course Design: Signature Edition was the third and final game in Accolade's PC golf series to be developed by Sculptured Software. It followed Jack Nicklaus' Greatest 18 Holes of Major Championship Golf (you can see the NES version here: https://youtu.be/oOitBakgLKo) and Jack Nicklaus' Unlimited Golf & Course Design, which was ported to the SNES (https://youtu.be/5Wxx8TYOaoo).

Signature Edition plays much the same as the older games, but it brings with it some nice refinements and an updated 256-color VGA presentation. The course designer has been fleshed out with more options and the ability to import custom background graphics, the golfers are now depicted with digitized sprites, the AI players' abilities can now be customized, and a few new game modes have been tossed into the mix.

In addition to the courses that were included in the original release, which included two courses (English Turn and Sherwood) that were designed by the Golden Bear himself, the game could import courses from the older games, and it was further supported by add-on courses that were sold separately between 1993 and 1995.

It doesn't look quite as impressive as its direct competitor, Links 386, but Signature Edition was a good looking game in its time, and the gameplay is just as intuitive and snappy as fans of the series had come to expect.

Not being a fan of the unnecessary complexity, gimmicky control schemes, and the microtransactions found in most modern golf games, I think that Signature Edition's gameplay has aged pretty gracefully. It's still fun.
