Greetings, Durag Nation! We finally have news about the big casting decisions in the new DCU helmed by James Gunn. After months of speculation and narrowing down potential candidates for Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor, it seems we've got our Superman and Lois.
According to a report by Deadline, following audition tapes and several screen tests, the talented Rachel Brosnahan has won the role of Lois Lane. Many initially thought that 32-year-old Rachel might be older than what James Gunn was aiming for in his rebooted universe, but it turns out he wasn't targeting actors quite as young as we expected. This is a positive turn as, in my opinion, Rachel was the best choice for the part.
Rachel Brosnahan is best known for her lead role in the Amazon Prime show 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' where she brought to life the character of a stand-up comedian named Midge - a character that could easily translate to the ace reporter persona of Lois Lane.
Alongside Rachel, the role of Clark Kent/Superman will be portrayed by up-and-coming actor David Corenswet. This 29-year-old actor, known for his lead role in the Netflix series 'The Politician,' not only possesses impressive acting chops but also bears a striking resemblance to a young Henry Cavill, which might stir up some feelings among Zack Snyder's fans.
Deadline reports that the casting decisions were settled quickly, largely due to the looming writers' strike set to begin on June 30th at midnight, which could potentially disrupt the film's progress.
