0The reduce() method in JavaScript is used to iterate over an array and accumulate its elements into a single value. It executes a provided callback function on each element of the array, resulting in a single output value.
array.reduce(callback, initialValue)
Here's an explanation of the parameters:
array: The array to iterate over.
callback: A function that is called on each element of the array. It takes four arguments:
accumulator: The accumulator accumulates the callback's return values. It is either the initial value (initialValue) or the previously returned value.
currentValue: The current element being processed in the array.
currentIndex (optional): The index of the current element being processed.
array (optional): The array on which reduce() was called.
initialValue (optional): The initial value of the accumulator. It is used as the first argument to the callback on the first element of the array. If not provided, the first element of the array is used as the initial value, and the iteration starts from the second element.
The reduce() method performs the following steps:
If an initial value is provided, the accumulator is set to that value. Otherwise, the accumulator is set to the first element of the array, and iteration starts from the second element.
The callback function is called on each element of the array. The return value of the callback becomes the new value of the accumulator for the next iteration.
