I played through most of the japanese version of this game, hoping to find some version differences.

They changed the cartoon that plays when you boot up the game.
They changed the main menu and the music.
They removed the little cutscene that plays when you start a new game, that shows plan monsters chasing civilians.
They translated the hint scenes that play during the first level.
They recorded new lines for Knarf and Dennis.
They added some names to the credits.

From what I can tell this is literally every change they made. I didn't find any real gameplay differences. I was hoping we'd have a super different version of the game to plan out speedruns for, but on the other hand it is nice to know that if someone wants to do runs on NTSC-J, they aren't at any disadvantage to NTSC-U.

THAT SAID: I also did not actually play every level, and I did not get 100%. I did play through the sewer, but I did not play Amazing Boxes, Monkey's Trail, or Through the Trees. I also only did the museum secret level. It's possible there are differences in the rest of the game. I may play the rest of this in the future, but no promises.
