Probably the best run and gun game of all time, Jet Force Gemini was made back when Rare was actually making good games instead of the occasional crap they release nowadays. This game did things that we take for granted now, but were unheard of at the time. One such thing is persistent game play. The game has a moderate amount of maps/levels, but those levels were immense, and no one of the 3 characters could explore the whole level by themselves, or even fully for that character the first time through. To top it off, the game has a "fake" final boss battle. Just when you think, "Ah, this is the final battle." you realize you haven't even hit the half way point of the game, and about another 100-500 hours of game play await you depending on your skill and if you use a guide. The only other games that match the replay value of this game are The Elder Scrolls games, and WoW. If you didn't play this amazing title in the '90s on the N64, you can play it now, for free, using Project64's emulator, and the Jet Force Gemini ROM as was used for this video.

The amazing thing about games from the N64, is though they look dated by today's standards, they are still good looking enough to enjoy (unlike Doom), and the game play and stories were better due to the lack of graphics, which devs now are more focused on. Be warned, these games were made back before the sissification of gamers; YOU WILL DIE... A LOT. There are no way-points or maps to help hold your hand. You can't skip a level if it's "too hard" *cough*GTA V*cough* Put on your big boy try pants, and see why us older gamers are so critical of today's games. We played games before they were considered "cool," and before devs made games essentially self-playing.
