6Jež bledý (erinaceus roumanicus) na východnom Slovensku, skoro ráno počas raných jesenných týždňov, na začiatku septembra 2021. Dospelý jedinec spokojne drieme v typickej obrannej pozícii. Ak budete pozorne načúvať, budete počuť ježkove tiché mrmlanie, sprievodný znak užívania si tohto zaslúženého spánku. Ježka som zazrel okolo 6:30 ráno, no do 9:00 predpoludním bol už dávno preč. Vybral sa za svojimi jesennými povinnosťami, pred začiatkom každoročného zimného spánku, ktorý začne v neskorších týždňoch jesene.
Northern white-breasted hedgehog (erinaceus roumanicus) in east Slovakia, early in the morning during the early weeks of autumn, at the beginning of September 2021. An adult specimen happily napping in its typical defensive position. If you listen carefully enough, you'll hear the hedgehog's quiet grunting as it enjoys some well-deserved sleep. I spotted the hedgehog around 6:30 AM, but by 9:00 AM, it was already long gone. Off to its autumn duties before its annual winter hibernation, starting later this autumn.

Prosím, pracujte na zachovaní a zasadzujte sa za ochranu životného prostredia na vidieku, aby sa v ňom zachovali priaznivé podmienky pre ježa bledého, ako i iné druhy ježov v Európe, Ázii a Afrike. Okrem ježov závisí od týchto podmienok mnoho ďalších druhov cicavcov, stavovcov a bezstavovcov. Jež je len jedným z tisíciek druhov stavovcov a bezstavovcov v Európe, ktoré potrebujú priaznivo zachované prírodné prostredia, aby prežili a ďalej prekvitali.

Please work for and campaign for protecting rural environments, in order to keep them favourable to the northern white-breasted hedgehog and other species of hedgehogs in Europe, Asia and Africa. In addition to hedgehogs, many other species of mammals, vertebrates and invertebrates rely on these conditions. The hedgehog is just one of many thousands of vertebrate and invertebrate species in Europe that require favourable natural environments in order to survive and further flourish.
