We used to recommend that you not level your carries past Lvl 60/70 A4, T6, +16 artifacts until the rest of your supports are leveled and geared as well. However updated Resin Math shows this is not the case in Genshin Impact.

We were wrong.

Thanks to Zakharov's deep dive into damage gain per resin invested, we now know the proper levels of investment you should have on your carries in order to max your Best Team's DPS in Genshin Impact. The general stopping point for regular carries like Keqing's builds is at lvl 70/80 A5, Talent 8s, and +20 gear. And for Hypercarries like Ganyu, Diluc, Hu Tao, Xiao, and Razor you actually want to stop at lvl 80/90 A6, Talent 9-10s, and +20 Gear!

After your carries are this invested you start focusing on leveling your high burst damage supports/sub dps. The only exception to this are 2 characters you want to level sooner: Venti and Bennett. They are the 2 supports so strong you want to prioritize at least getting them to +16 gear and A4 T6.

The reasons why you want to invest SO heavily into your carries in genshin impact before investing in ANYONE past the bare minimum is because it turns out that Resin spent to damage gains is pretty close to linear. It drops off a bit at the Ascension 6 level of investment by ~25% but it maintains this strong scaling because any of the new more expensive multipliers are multiplying on a higher base value.

However if it was just linear scaling, it'd be better to spread investment.
Howeverever, carries deal around 30%+ of your genshin team's damage.
And Hyper carries deal well over 50%.
