There are many sequel fans who are mad at him, they feel like he is joining the 'reddit' crew (whatever that means) and pandering...
while many who felt distanced by the sequels are supporting his ideas, saying it would have been better and glad that he shared his thoughts.
What Disney did with the sequels was a mockery and it should be addressed more publicly. Regardless what you thought of the sequels, everyone is entitled to their opinion, including John. You have to admit, what they did to his character was pretty lame with so much potential.
