2John McAfee's ex-girlfriend claimed in the Netflix documentary "Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee" that she received a phone call two weeks after his death from Johhn McAffee who told her "It’s me, John, I paid off people to pretend that I am dead but I am not dead. You’re only person in this world that knows that I’m still alive.".
Janice McAfee told Cointelegraph that she did not take the documentary's assertions seriously.
