This is a very heart touching song for me. I recorded it minutes before my grandfather, who I spent pretty much most of my childhood with, passed away. The 12-string was recorded using a headset mic close to the guitar in just one take and the bass is synthed. That is because I had planned to record it again, with a better mic, and try better, but before I could do that, I got called to go and see him because he was in his last minutes and I didn't have my bass with me that day to record it.

This piece was inspired by his condition, stomach cancer. The original title for this piece was "Consumed", which reflected how he lost most of his weight and strength to the point of being unable to get out of bed, but during the day I recorded this song, it was decided that they would put morphine to him to alleviate the pain he was constantly feeling. He left us less than an hour later. I named the piece "Morphine" because of that and because it is a very slow and calm piece.

Actually, this piece is the ending of a longer song called Life Ravager, which also calls up the topic of cancer.

The clouded sky is beause that's what I can think of when I listen to this song apart of him.

Note: This song, along with Muteness, were played on his funeral. It was an honor for me to have a song I wrote (and played to him while he was still alive) played on the funeral of one of the people that inspired and influenced me the most. He will be very missed, but his teachings and memories will remain forever. Rest in Peace.
