We found a way for Joseph to play on the PS4 when we welcomed him to our accessible games room a few days ago. Joe from our Occupational Therapy team takes up the story:

"Joseph’s nine and has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. A few years ago we worked out a gaming setup that let him play Mario Kart on the Wii, but he wanted to try some different games on a newer console.”

“He’s got some good movement in his fingers of his right hand, so we positioned a controller with a low force extended left stick onto a lap tray, and supported his arm with a cushtie cushion. In that position he could steer in Project Cars on the PS4.”

“He’s also able to use a head switch, so we put a small button switch on his headrest for accelerate, and another by his left hand for braking.”

“He’s also big football fan, so we tried FIFA. He used the head switch for shooting and the hand switch for passing, and won his first game 4-2! All in all, a really great day!"
