JOURNEY - Apotheosis - As Noted
1,710Episode 3 of "As Noted," showcasing the finale of JOURNEY. In many respects, this single piece of music birthed my entire career; thatgamecompany's beautiful and uplifting gameplay gave this piece an almost unfair advantage in emotionally communicating with players. From the moment of its 2012 release it has been popular online and, rather astoundingly, in concert halls. Orchestras the world over have performed this piece! Note that showcased here is the *original* orchestration, not the concert adaptation.
For this episode, we focus not only on the notes themselves, but I've annotated the score to showcase how the piece was integrated into the gameplay. It's a mostly-linear series of interconnected loops with transitional "stingers" smoothing it all out. The OST presentation makes none of that clear so hopefully this is interesting!
