Judge Dredd - Stage 2
I said I wouldn't do a full run, but that doesn't mean I can't do a bunch of levels anyway. Ho ho ho, you've been had.
Seriously though, the level select code is absolutely amazing for doing individual level runs. Because of that, you can probably expect at least a few more of these. Hopefully I can keep the quality at a somewhat acceptable level for later stages, because things will get harder (for the most part).
The primary objective for this stage is the same as the previous one (destroy all ammunition crates), but you also have to fight an extremely annoying boss. Sadly, the path behind the boss is closed off until you win.
The boss is actually very easy during a normal playthrough, because you can just drop like 6 grenades on him and move on. Since gathering that many grenades would take too long, I instead used Dredd's manly Kick of Doom (TM?). Said Kick of Doom can even destroy ABC Warbots later in the game, if you have extreme skills and patience (or if you're a psycho). O_o
You'll notice that I purposely fire off a Bounce each time I run over to him, even though they don't do any damage. The purpose of that was so that it would bounce back and hit Dredd in the face, thus triggering a short bit of invincibility. This seemed to buy me enough time to stop moving and attack, since the Kick of Doom requires that you press A while standing still.
The boss likes to go berserk when he's at low health, but he was rather tame in this attempt. He also liked going completely berserk whenever I started the fight by hitting him three times, for some odd reason. Maybe that was just enough damage to make him start speeding things up?
As for the end of the video, WHY didn't I freaking jump? The Bounce was intentional, because the purple guy is usually right there when I get off the ladder. But when nobody showed up, it should've been painfully obvious to jump well in advance. ARGH.
For the record, that purple guy was randomly possessed. That means the Bounce shot wouldn't have worked anyway, because possessed enemies don't surrender. (There's a different way to capture those guys, but that's not relevant to a run.)
