Showing the issue with the "one keypress does two actions". In this case the E key to store an item and the E key to close the trunk they both get fired at the same time. Obviously only the Trunk action should be fired in this case... it's different for many other areas of the game where one keypress does two simultaneous and totally Independent things. (press SPACE to skip being the most prominent)
Here it results in an even weird status.. the Trunk animation for closing plays.. but the Trunk is still open... when I stand to the left of the closed Trunk and "nothing" happens it's when I hammer the E key to get it opened... eventually the internal mechanics seem to react to the closing request at one point and also set the variable for closed to now match with the visible display. That state was obviously reached when I hammered E on the right side of the Trunk to force it somehow to realize it should "close" and not just pretend.
